Registering a Means of Transport

As described, handling Product starts with Product arriving at the Terminals. As the Product cannot arrive by itself, the start is registering the Means of Transport that is expected to arrive to discharge (or load) Product. The registration of such a Means of Transport is done by means of a so-called Visit.

A Visit is the combination of the name and/or identification number of the means of Transport together with the estimated time of arrival. This is required, because a Means of Transport can visit the de Terminal multiple times, even in a timeframe of a couple of days. Therefore, it is important to be able to make the distinction between the different visits and hence the reason for the concept of a Visit.

Given the differences in terms of data regarding various types of Means of Transport, different types of Visits can be created to accommodate proper data recording.
